Viewpoint

It was only on a friend's suggestion, a mere whim, that when the time came, our family considered looking at UD for our son. Having checked out the website which was impressive, I found myself wondering why we would not apply to this school, even though it was some distance away. Once he was accepted and with a scholarship as the added plus, we were on our way to check out the campus.

Nothing could have prepared us for the welcome we received that day. We could not have been more impressed by how everyone we met, from the admissions personnel to the kids on campus, made us feel as though we were the only family there that day. We had never experienced such a personal touch at any other campus as we did at Dayton. I, in my heart, loved the school and needed great composure to hide my feelings so as not to influence my son.

But obviously he felt the same way, and, from the moment he set foot on the campus to the day he graduated, had not even the slightest regret. His experience at UD was one of the most rewarding of his and our lives and with happiness comes the successes he has had both during and since his graduation.

From looking forward to the annual flights out for move-in days and parents' weekends, to both the glee and sadness with graduation weekend, the feeling is something that is hard to explain unless you are or have been a UD student or parent. Oh, and the friendships he has made there will last him a lifetime.
