Looking for challenging classes with professors who encourage you to think outside the box? The University of Dayton offers rigorous and expansive educational experiences for our academically accomplished students. The University Honors Program provides unique learning opportunities beyond the normal college experience, enriched courses taught by top professors and an inspiring, collaborative camaraderie with fellow students.

University Honors Program
With the University Honors Program, you will be encouraged to explore the world and search for answers to challenging questions. See the work of your peers — and display your own — at the Honors Students Symposium and Honors Art Exhibition. Travel abroad to perfect your language skills and gather research for your Honors Thesis. Contemplate big ideas and discuss important questions with your hallmates — who are also fellow Honors students. The possibilities are endless as a member of the University Honors Program.

Incoming First-Year Students Eligibility
After you have been admitted to the University of Dayton, you will automatically be designated as a University Honors student if you meet both of the following criteria:

  • Combined SAT of 1300 or above or a composite ACT of 29 or above.
  • 3.7 GPA or above or rank in the top 10 percent of your high school class.

If you do not meet these initial criteria, you may still be considered for admission to the University Honors Program. Request a reassessment of your qualifications from the Office of Admission.

Continuing UD Students Eligibility
If you are not admitted to the Honors Program as an incoming student, you will be invited to participate in the program at the completion of your first or second year, if you have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and have earned a certain number of honors credits.

Maintaining Eligibility
As part of the University Honors Program, you must maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average to remain a member in good standing. You must also accumulate honors credits as you advance toward your Honors Program diploma.
