American Studies (B.A.)
As an American studies major, you will have the opportunity to study American culture with an interdisciplinary approach. You will take courses from a variety of disciplines and complete an independent research project in which you address some of your most pressing questions about American culture.

In addition to three core courses in American studies, you will take courses from three areas of concentration (English and fine arts; history, philosophy and religious studies; and the social sciences). You will be able to tailor the program based on your interests as you select eight courses in your primary area of concentration (five focusing on U.S. culture and three focusing on other cultures), three courses from your secondary area of concentration and two courses from the remaining concentration.

The program sponsors numerous activities, programs and events, allowing you to apply the knowledge you learn in the classroom, interact with faculty members and other students in your major, build your resume and enhance your learning experience.
