Criminal Justice Studies (B.A.)
As a criminal justice studies major, you will gain an understanding of deviance, crime and criminality as you study law enforcement, the courts, corrections, social movements, and other groups and agencies.
The criminal justice studies program offers you the opportunity to tailor your studies based on your interests and goals. To complement your professional or academic interests, you can concentrate your course work in behavior, institutions or law. To enrich your studies in criminal justice, you may pursue a second major. Popular double majors include political science, psychology and sociology.
Criminal justice studies courses incorporate state-of-the-art multimedia computer technology and create active learning environments. To help you prepare for your career, you will have the opportunity to develop video and online resumes, participate in service learning projects, conduct cutting-edge research and more.
You can prepare for your career and gain hands-on experience through the internship program. Recent internships have included placements in the White House, Department of Treasury, Department of State, Probation and Pretrial Services, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Marshals and NCIS, as well as with local, regional and national law enforcement.

Our graduates follow various career paths inside and outside of the justice system. You will be able to choose from various criminological and legal careers including consumer and victim advocacy, corporate security, criminal investigation, intelligence, international services, law enforcement, mediation, parole counseling and probation. Some graduates also pursue graduate studies and other academic careers. Employment opportunities are available at local, state and federal levels of law enforcement and government, as well as in corporations, professional organizations social movements, and the service and nonprofit sectors.
