English (B.A.)
If you have a love for literature, language and writing, then English is for you. English majors develop expert skills as readers, writers and critical thinkers, enabling them to contribute to conversations and shape debates about all kinds of texts and discourse, in both academic and real-world contexts.
With a wide choice of courses in literature, creative writing, rhetoric and composition and film, the English major allows flexibility to individualize your program of study.
And because most English courses are small, you will receive personal attention from professors who inspire and challenge. Our faculty members represent a diverse range of interests and expertise, and they bring the passion and wisdom of their scholarly accomplishments into the classroom. As teachers and advisers, they are devoted to help you grow and succeed.
As an English major, you'll be required to demonstrate proficiency in Standard Written English (Edited American English) by successfully completing one or more first year composition courses.
