Exercise Physiology (B.S.)
Through the exercise physiology program, you will have the opportunity to explore the field through an extensive offering of courses and research experiences associated with biochemistry, biomechanics, clinical assessment, exercise, nutrition and research design. The program's strong science curriculum prepares you for entrance to schools of dentistry, medicine and veterinary medicine, among others.

As exercise physiology is one of the most competitive majors at UD, the minimum ACT composite for incoming first-year students is 27, and the minimum grade point average for transfer students is 3.2 (which must include adequate preparation in the sciences).

Since the emphasis of this program is to prepare you for professional studies in the life and health sciences or graduate studies in exercise physiology or biochemistry, hands-on research opportunities are part of the curriculum. You will gain exposure to research projects by working alongside faculty before designing and conducting your own research project during your senior year.

If you decide to pursue graduate studies, substantial coaching and advisement is available to help you through the application process.

Career Opportunities
Our graduates are well prepared for master's and doctoral programs in exercise physiology or nutritional biochemistry, as well as professional programs in chiropractic, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, and veterinary medicine. Those not pursuing graduate school but having the requisite communication skills will be prime candidates for positions in the consumer products, fitness, medical equipment, or pharmaceutical industries.
