Exercise Science (B.S.)
Wellness is no longer a health trend or fad — it has become a lifestyle. In order to teach people how to manage stress, maintain a healthy diet, stay physically fit and cope with general health problems, professional wellness programs must be instituted.
Our program is designed to provide trained personnel capable of conducting adult physical fitness testing, cardiac rehabilitation principles and procedures, and developing personal fitness training programs that involve exercise and physical activity. Our interdisciplinary curriculum includes courses from business administration, chemistry, communication, psychology, sport science and other related areas.
You can gain hands-on experience and substantial advantages in the job market through enriching opportunities. Internship sites include local colleges, universities, communities and private health clubs with functioning exercise or wellness programs.
Career Opportunities
As wellness and health maintenance programs develop in corporations, hospitals, universities and other agencies, the demand will grow for qualified leaders and directors. You will be able to find a career as an exercise program director in business, communities, hospitals and industry. Specific job responsibilities include testing, researching, evaluating and prescribing exercise related activities, and promoting wellness programs.
