Management: Leadership and Entrepreneurship (B.S.)
Our department offers two programs, leadership and entrepreneurship, that teach you to apply management theory to real-world settings. In 2008, Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review named our entrepreneurship program fourth best in the nation.

With a background in leadership, you will be prepared to motivate others to achieve their goals, understand and improve group dynamics, and manage processes and people. As an entrepreneur, you will conceive and launch your own business ideas, as well as identify viable business opportunities and transform them into new ventures.

You may begin the leadership program as a first-year student. As part of this program, you will learn to lead by developing competencies in motivation, group dynamics, cross-cultural management and change. You will also discover how to align an organization's systems with its overall business objectives.

To prepare you for a successful career in management, the leadership program provides you with a solid foundation in management skills and organizational behavior. You'll put your knowledge to use during your senior year, as you team with local businesses to solve real management challenges through the Seminar in Experiencing Leadership.

If you are interested in running your own business, you can apply to the entrepreneurship program during your first year. Students who are accepted into the program begin entrepreneurship courses in the fall semester of their sophomore year. Whether you major or minor in entrepreneurship, you'll discover how businesses are conceived, launched and sustained, as well as learn how to successfully compete for financial resources and identify target markets.

With our entrepreneurship program, you don't have to wait until after graduation to be a CEO. During the Sophomore Experience, you will create and run a microbusiness. More than $50,000 in venture capital is provided annually to launch these businesses, and you will receive support from the Crotty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership as you move your business from the red to the black.

Our programs encourage you to gain hands-on experience. Valuable professional opportunities such as internships and co-ops are available, and you will receive significant assistance in obtaining them. You can also make your business ideas become reality by participating in the UD Business Plan Competition or Everest Real Estate Challenge, which offer thousands of dollars in prizes to those who have the best business plan.

The School of Business Administration's undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Our graduates have pursued a wide variety of careers, including consulting for various firms and creating new businesses.
