Operations Management (B.S.)
Operations management is the critical process within every business that creates, distributes and improves products and services, while ensuring the process is streamlined and efficient.
Our state-of-the-art operations management program combines course work in management and operations planning with hands-on experience through capstone consulting projects. You will take courses from various fields of study, in addition to the core set of six operations management courses. Electives allow you to tailor your studies based on your interests, and you may choose concentrations in business process management, e-commerce, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, operations accounting, quality management and supply chain management.
You'll gain hands-on experience through a capstone operations consulting field project. As part of the project, you'll deal with operations and supply problems of a real manufacturing/service firm in the Dayton, Cincinnati or Columbus area.
You can also explore the business world and gain real-world experience before you graduate. Valuable professional opportunities such as internships and co-ops are available, and you will receive significant assistance in obtaining them.
Plenty of professional support is available, as the operations management program is supported by a strong and dedicated advisory council composed of executives from leading area organizations such as American Trim, Boeing, Elder-Beerman, Emerson Technologies, Fifth Third Bank, General Electric, General Motors, Premier Health Partners, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and US Gypsum. The Operations Management Advisory Council provides guidance to the faculty in areas of curriculum, capstone project support, internship experiences and job placement upon graduation.
The School of Business Administration's undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
