Our summer-start accelerated option enables you to obtain your law degree in two calendar years, saving one year of student loan interest and borrowing for living expenses.

The School of Law offers scholarships based on merit, personal background and social justice involvement. You will also enjoy a low cost of living in the vibrant Dayton region. And now each admitted student who makes an official admitted student campus visit and enrolls for 2012 will receive up to $1,000 for first-year course materials. Application Requirements

Try to plan as close to a year in advance as possible so that you can be sure to meet application and testing deadlines. You also want to give yourself plenty of time to plan for the major lifestyle adjustment that full-time law school requires (Dayton Law is full-time only).

J.D. Applicants

We begin accepting applications for the following academic year, both for the Summer and Fall Terms. We do not charge an application fee. You can apply to Dayton Law while you’re still waiting for your LSAT score(s) — or even before you’ve taken the LSAT — but applications will not be reviewed until all required elements (including scores) are received.

J.D. applicants should provide the following:

• Completed application
• Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score
• Receipt of a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited college or university by our first class day
• Personal statement
• Two letters of recommendation

Transfer Applicants

Transfer applicants (seeking admission to UDSL after the first year of law school at an ABA-accredited institution) must currently be registered with LSDAS and provide the following:

• Completed application
• Official undergraduate degree transcript directly from the undergraduate institution
• Official law school transcript
• Law faculty letter of recommendation
• Letter of good standing from the applicant's current ABA-approved law school
• First-year course descriptions from the applicant's current ABA-approved law school

Visiting Student Applicants

Applicants applying as visiting or transient student (seeking to study at UDSL after two years of law school at an ABA-accredited institution) must provide the following:

• Completed application
• Letter of permission and good standing from the applicant's current ABA-approved law school
• Completed UDSL application (no personal statement required)
• Statement outlining the reasons for visiting at UDSL

Applications for admission as a transfer or visiting/transient student are normally considered for the fall semester only.

In order to make an informed decision about attending law school, we strongly encourage prospective law students to visit our wonderful facility and meet our admissions staff, faculty and students.

Information Sessions
Offered most Mondays and Fridays, these sessions provide an introduction to Dayton Law, including a discussion about admissions procedures and financial aid, a tour of the facility and the opportunity to sit in on a law class. Meet in the School of Law Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, room 112, Keller Hall.

Sessions are held from 10:15 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.

At a Location Near You
Another option if you cannot attend one of these programs, we may be at a location near your residence or college campus. Please check our recruiting calendar to see where we will be this fall.

The largest of these events are the Law School Forums, sponsored by the Law School Admission Council. These forums are free to prospective students and are held each year in eight metropolitan areas across the country.
