Hammerstep presents "Cypher: Performance in the Round"

Date: Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Time: 9:00 PM

Location: McGinnis Center, located at the intersection of Frericks Way and Kiefaber Street

Dance is a powerful impulse, and Hammerstep has one of the freshest takes on this community-building art form. Founded by recent UD alum Garrett Coleman, Hammerstep is a phenomenal blend of urban moves with a percussive, step-dance tradition. Coleman and Hammerstep's Australian co-founder, Jason Oremus, are world Irish step-dancing champions: both have multiple titles and have toured internationally.  Now the two have their own high energy company that takes dance to the street - and invites everyone to get involved. Their residency the week of November 18 will feature varied events (check back for updates), including a featured appearance with the UD Dance Ensemble (Nov 22 & 23). The highlight will be a "cypher" or participatory dance-in-the-round event at McGinnis: you'll love their hip-hop, throw-down, chart-topping moves.

FREE, no reservations required.
