The Hot Club of Detroit

World Rhythms Concert: The Hot Club of Detroit

Tuesday, February 19, 8 PM
Boll Theatre, Kennedy Union

Inspired by the legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, The Hot Club of Detroit delivers a fiercely swinging brand of gypsy jazz.  Both acoustic and electric guitars, tenor and soprano sax, as well as clarinet, accordion, bandoneon and upright bass weave together a range of musical traditions.  The result is a retro yet hip sound: a siren sound for all generations. Established in 2003 by guitarist Evan Perri, the ensemble gained early attention: in 2007, the band swept the Detroit Music Awards, winning the Outstanding Traditional Jazz Artist among many other laurels.
