"Fiddler Cedric Watson moves like a star and gets the girls screaming." - Songlines (London, UK)

Date: Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Time: 8:00 PM

Location: Boll Theatre, Kennedy Union

This four-time Grammy-nominated fiddler, singer, accordionist and songwriter is one of the brightest young talents to emerge in Cajun and other Louisiana French music traditions over the last decade. With his band Bijou Creole, Cedric Watson draws on a variety of old-school zydeco styles, original material and Creole standards. Originally from San Felipe, TX (population 868), Cedric made his first appearance at the age of 19 at the Zydeco Jam at The Big Easy in Houston, TX.  Just two years later, he moved to south Louisiana, quickly immersing himself in French music and language. Cedric has been making a name for himself reviving the old Creole fiddling styles of Canray Fontenot and Bebe Carrier, injecting a healthy dose of his own personality and ingenuity, and bringing them to an ever-broadening audience.
