LitFest 2011

A Sea of Diversity: Rising Tides, Rising Authors

LitFest 2011, themed "A Sea of Diversity: Rising Tides, Rising Authors," will take place Friday, April 1 & Saturday, April 2, 2011, on the University of Dayton campus. We invite UD undergraduate and graduate students and faculty; secondary students from Stivers School for the Arts, The Dayton Early College Academy, Chaminade Julienne High School, and other members of the Dayton community to join us in an exploration and celebration of the literary arts.

The two-day program will include our traditional feature readings by renowned writers; group and open-mic readings by writers from the campus and area communities; creative writing workshops on poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and screenwriting; an open poetry slam facilitated by local slam poets; and an innovative "poet's dinner" for invited participants, to be hosted by ArtStreet residents. This year, we will also feature Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC), current artists-in-residence at the University, performing a piece from "Lyric Fire"-a dynamic dance inspired by the poetry of Dayton's renowned 19th-century African American poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar.
