CityLinks 2012: Rebuilding Our Urban Communities
Friday, April 13, 2012 • University of Dayton River Campus
Neighborhoods are in a fight to survive against urban sprawl. More and more, citizens are taking up arms to revitalize their neighborhoods. For the past three decades, the federal government has targeted the poorest areas of American cities with a succession of antipoverty initiatives, yet these urban neighborhoods continue to decline. Come and learn strategies on how to get in the game, how to play the game and how to win the game of neighborhood revitalization. CITYLINKS 2012: Rebuilding Our Urban Communities will address these issues.
Keynote speaker:
David Rusk, former federal Labor Department official, New Mexico legislator, and mayor of Albuquerque, NM. Now a consultant on urban policy, Rusk has worked in over 120 US communities. Abroad, Rusk has lectured on urban problems in Canada, England, Germany, South Africa, and The Netherlands.
Workshops include:
- How to Engage Citizens
- Urban Gardening
- Building an Immigrant Friendly Community
- Protecting Our Children in Our Neighborhoods
Mattie Davis & Joe Kanak Community Builders Award
