Opportunities with Other Fitz Center Service Partners
East End Community Services
East End Community Services has been a UD partner since it began in 1998. This neighborhood center is especially prepared to serve the Appalachian, Middle Eastern and Latino population of East Dayton, an area hard hit by poverty and unemployment. East End offers a range of services, including an after school program, a teen center, job training, housing development, and more. East End is the sponsoring partner of Ruskin PK-8 School, one of Dayton's Neighborhood School Centers.
Dayton Early College Academy (DECA)
DECA values the power of place and benefits from its location on the UD campus. UD professors from several departments have donated time and resources to our students through teaching, job shadows and internships. The music department started a choir, and music professors have given demonstrations of instruments. DECA participates in the EDPEP program/summer camp, Minority Engineering Summer Camp, Future Teachers Program and Women in Engineering Summer camp. UD faculty and staff volunteer to teach a Study Skills class for student and undergraduates tutor DECA students. Professors engage DECA in professional development activities and classes and special guests visiting UD come speak/perform for our students.
