Ferree Professor of Social Justice

The Cincinnati Province of the Society of Mary, to continue and build on Father Ferree’s work and his approach to social justice, created this endowed position in honor of Marianist Provincial Father William J. Ferree in 2000. Brother Raymond L. Fitz, S.M., Ph.D., assumed the role of Ferree Professor in 2002. Brother Ray assists faculty in using Catholic social teaching as a resource in their teaching and scholarship, and he utilizes Catholic social teaching as a resource for promoting urban and regional justice through the many programs of the Fitz Center.
