Learning programs for area youth
The Rivers Institute's youth programs provide the opportunity for students of all ages to experience and learn about the rivers in their community. The youth programs follow a similar educational model to the River Stewards program. They use experiential learning to teach about the interdisciplinary nature of our watershed and rivers. As much as possible, we try to get students outside of the classroom to learn hands-on about the historical, ecological, sociological and aesthetic importance of Dayton’s rivers, as well as what the future might hold. Whether the River Stewards teach a one-day after school program or facilitate a four-day river camp, the excitement and passion we have for our local watershed is contagious.
