Careers
The study of geology can lead to a wide variety of careers relating to the study of the Earth's past and future. Many of our alumni continue their studies at the graduate level. A major career area in geology today is in the environmental arena. Other important areas include the discovery of new energy and/or mineral resources and the prediction, prevention and remediation of hazards related to the earth's dynamic processes such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, landslides, flooding and beach erosion.The American Geological Institute provides valuable information to those interested in earth science, including valuable information on careers in geology.
