Students who have strong background, talent and interest in music but do not wish to major in music may elect a minor, consisting of one year's study each of music theory and music history, and 8 additional credits of electives. Such electives should include a variety of music technology courses, including introduction to music technology, transcription, and digital and recording media, as well as independent study opportunities for individual project development. Students will be accepted into the program contingent upon a successful interview with the department chair and the availability of courses. The minor requires 22 semester hours.
