Music Technology
Students who have strong background, talent, and interest in music but do not wish to major in music may elect a minor, consisting of one year's study each of music theory and music history, and 8 additional credits of electives, including either performance study (private lessons) and/or ensemble participation. Students will be accepted into the program with completion of an interview with the department chair and contingent upon classes having space available. The minor requires 22 semester hours and includes courses in music theory, transcription, and recording.
Minor in Music Technology (MUS)
The Department of Music offers a minor in Music Technology non-music majors. The minor emphasizes sound musicianship, combining a traditional approach to the study of music with a concentration in the theories, techniques, and technologies currently applied in all aspects of music production recording and media integration. Students will receive training in analog and digital audio recording techniques as well as MIDI, multimedia, video, and other computer applications.
