Music Talent Awards
All students interested in auditioning for a Music Talent Award do so when auditioning for admission to the Department of Music.
Awards are available to both music majors and non majors. These awards are offered to very talented voice or instrumental students. Strong consideration is given to music majors in degree programs or ensemble areas of greatest need. Awards vary in the amount that is offered and are based on a variety of factors, including merit for talent and/or financial need. Since the process for Music Talent Awards is highly competitive, not every student who auditions will receive an award.
Music Talent Awards awarded by the Department of Music can, in some cases, be combined with academic awards received from the University of Dayton's Office of Financial Aid. Therefore, it is important that each applicant complete and submit the requested FAFSA form as part of the financial aid process. In addition, since admission to music degree programs is contingent upon successful completion of the University admissions process, Music Talent Awards and Department of Music admission offers cannot be made to any student who has not been admitted to the University. This is why prospective students should apply to the University of Dayton as early as possible.
It is important to note the audition cut-off date when applying for a Music Talent Award. This date is typically near the last day of regularly-scheduled auditions. All students who are interested in consideration of a fall term Music Talent Award must audition no later than March 1 of the year they plan to enter the University.
