New Traditions

12.26.2012

Merry Christmas! It feels like Christmas just started, and it is already over! Since I have been in college, I never have time to think about Christmas until break starts, so I always feel like it ends too soon. As you already know, I am engaged, so this Christmas was a bit different than years past. Brandon, my fiance, and I have been together for almost six years, but we never have done holidays together. This year, we had no choice but to change our Christmas traditions and begin transitioning to our own traditions, which translates to a Christmas marathon. We went to Brandon's extended family's Christmas eve gathering from 2:00 until 5:30. Then we went to my dad's family's Christmas eve gathering from 5:30 until 10:00, which included church. Christmas morning we spent separately with our families as it will be our last Christmas morning at home. After our morning with the fam, we went to my mom's parent's Christmas for lunch, and then we went to Brandon's parent's Christmas dinner.

I was not so sure about changing my beloved Christmas traditions, but I had a great time spending Christmas with Brandon and all of our various families! We both are finally getting to know each other's extended families, which makes getting married even better. I am excited to gain a new family and for him to become part of mine! All in all, we finished our Christmas marathon blessed with tons of food, lots of gifts, and good memories with family. Some of my gift highlights included two Vera Bradley teaching bags, a nativity set made from recycled paper, and seasons four through seven of Boy Meets World. I hope you all had a great Christmas, too!
