It appears as though I am way behind in blogging! I have absolutely no sense of time this summer, but I am enjoying every minute of it.
Two weeks ago I went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with my family. Our family has taken that trip for many, many years, but I think this past trip was the best ever. Before we left for the trip, there was a massive wind storm that blew through this region all the way down to Charleston! Unfortunately, that storm delayed our trip one day because my dad is a landscaper and had to clean up his customer's properties. Anyways, we left late on Saturday thinking we could just drive until we got tired not realizing that the storm had gone through the south, too. After about four hours of driving, we were all getting antsy and ready to stop, we were out of gas, and everybody was hungry. Unfortunately, we could not find a place to stop because the power was out all over in West Virginia! We were starting to get a little panicked because we were on empty, but we finally found a gas station with power and a Dairy Queen attached, so we were fueled and fed but still tired. We ended up having to drive a couple more hours until we found a hotel that wasn't booked up and had power, which was a blessing beyond belief!
After a good night's sleep and a good breakfast, we were back on the road again on Sunday, July 1st. We stopped at my sister's house in Pinehurst, North Carolina for dinner that night, and finished the drive to Myrtle Beach. We spent the rest of the week living the life on the beach! We had perfect weather even though it was pretty hot. We did the usual putt-putt at night, gift shops, and whatnot. We also saw dolphins one morning! The best part of the trip was just having the whole family together. We are so blessed to have each other and still take trips.
After a long drive home, I was back to work the following Sunday all relaxed, tan, and ready to go.
