Hello, there! I have had a fantastic day, and I hope you did too! I woke up this morning still disgruntled that the sun isn't out when I get up because of the time change, but I didn't let that set my mood for the day. I went to my physics problem session this morning, and then I enjoyed my hour break between classes. I have found that I thoroughly enjoy sitting in Kennedy Union (KU) during my hour break. I sit there with my feet up, listen to music, eat breakfast, and read the newspaper--I wish that was how I spent every day. Anyways, I had two classes after that and a meeting with my advisor.
I met with my biology advisor this afternoon, and he is the best. I always leave his office feeling like I can do anything! He always encourages me to push myself and take on challenges. Last semester he encouraged me to keep going with all of my classes even when I was really struggling, and now I am so glad that I didn't drop anything. I finally got the guts to ask him what he thought about the idea of me working in my ecology professor's lab, and as always, he gave me all the confidence and courage I needed to get the gumption to talk to my ecology professor about the possibility. I am really excited, but I am not sure if he has room for me. I'll keep you posted.
Along with my theme of people, I ran into Sister Kathleen in the dining hall today, so we had dinner. She is the campus minister for Virginia W. Kettering hall (VWK), so I see her frequently. I really enjoyed getting to have dinner with her, though. We talked about all sorts of things, but I am really enjoying getting to know her better.
I titled this blog "People" because I am starting to realize that everything falls into place based on the people you meet. My resident assistant (RA) set-up the event to go to the assisted living place where I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Sister Kathleen. Also, my advisor has given me the confidence to take on huge challenges and the confidence to look into doing research. I could go on and on, but I always learn about new opportunities and about new things just through people I meet. Have a great night!
