Comedy Night Done Right03.07.2013
Tonight some brothers from Alpha Kappa Psi and I went to Wiley’s Comedy Club in the Oregon District. This was an idea from our social committee as it was something different to do on a Thursday night and would be a fun outing for us to get some laughs as well as get to know each other better.
I have never been to a comedy club before so I was pretty excited to go and hoped that the comedians would actually be funny. A huge plus was that tonight it was free admission, all you had to do was purchase a drink or appetizer of some sort—not a bad deal.
Comedian wise, we were off to a rough start. The first comedian was pretty old, therefore, his jokes weren’t all that relatable for us college kids, but the rest of the audience seemed to enjoy his old age humor about arguing with his wife and having health issues. Some of his jokes were funny, but I think we were all looking forward to the headliner.
And we were right. The headliner of the night was hilarious and made a lot of jokes directed towards our group. He was a younger guy, but you could tell that he’s been doing this for quite a while, because he was super comfortable on stage and would think up jokes on the spot. It was a great time with my fellow brothers!
I had a lot of fun tonight and will definitely need to go to the Oregon District more often—it’s so close and yet I always forget that it’s right here and a great option for a night out!
