A Few Words about Summer

This summer has flown by! But, I figured I’d tell you a little bit about it, especially since I’m moving back to UD tomorrow! First of all, I do not know what I was thinking but I decided to take FOUR science classes to help out with my Middle Education major. This is what took up the majority of my time, as they were all online courses and required a lot of work. Here are the courses I took so that you might be able to understand my work load more: astronomy, geology, biology, and biology lab. Let me tell you, the biology lab was very difficult to do all online. I had many things in petri dishes around my house, plants growing outside, and other random activities to complete.

However, even though I was mostly doing class work, my family was able to take two vacations for the first time ever, which was awesome! We went to South Carolina both times, but different areas. The first time we went was in June which was to Folly Beach. This is a small area that is home to a lot of “hippie” folk, so it was lots of fun. My family and I went with some really good friends of ours and it was a really nice time. My dad was able to find sand dollars and starfish which was super cool.

During this vacation we also made it down to Charleston in order to do some shopping and see the city. I loved Charleston and want to go back as soon as possible! At night, all of us “kids” went to downtown Charleston to go on a haunted jailhouse tour. I enjoyed the tour very much as a lot of history was involved, and it was pretty creepy.

The second time we went to South Carolina we went to Myrtle Beach. I haven’t been here since I was three years old so basically it felt like my first time there. This time my family and I went but I also took my best friend who now lives in Kentucky. It was amazing being at the beach and being able to spend a whole week with her, because I haven’t seen her since October, which was way too long. Most of the time we spent either poolside reading Fifty Shades (guilty!) or at the beach boogie boarding, sunbathing, and beach combing. The beach was gorgeous and I always wish that vacation was longer.

Overall, my summer was busy but extremely nice. I seriously cannot believe how fast it went! Other than taking classes and going to the beach twice, I was able to spend quite a bit of time with family and friends, my mom and I enjoyed going to our Thursday garage sales, and my whole family enjoyed going to farmers markets and family gatherings.
