HallOUween Weekend!

11.01.2011Let me just start by saying that I absolutely love Halloween! I don’t know if it’s the fact that I like watching scary movies, enjoy carving pumpkins, find caramel apples delicious, or love dressing up but I really really like Halloween. So, this weekend I met up with my best friend that goes to Bellarmine University in Kentucky and we went to the University of Cincinnati and Ohio University. Friday night was the University of Cincinnati to hang out with my brother and his friends. My friend and I went as little red riding hood and the big bad wolf and I don’t want to brag, but we looked pretty awesome and got a lot of compliments on our costumes. We also didn’t get to sleep until 4:30 in the morning. But, hey, we had fun! On Saturday morning (well, more like afternoon) we made the drive to OU. It was about a two and a half hour drive from UC and it was a pretty boring trip, because as many have heard, there is literally nothing around campus. The only thing that surrounds campus is trees and barns, which is fun to look at, but not for almost three hours. And, it’s not fun when you’re hungry and there are no restaurants around for miles. We reached OU’s campus around 6, since we were off to such a late start. The driving around campus was a little crazy because a lot of the roads were blocked off. But, we finally managed to find some parking that wasn’t all that expensive. I met up with my friend that goes to OU and met all of her friends and then we grabbed some dinner (we were starving!) and then got our wristbands. In case you didn’t know, Halloween at OU is kind of a HUGE deal. I had to pay 25 dollars in order to attend, and each person can only have one guest, which receives a wristband. You also have to stay with your buddy the whole time and you get emailed a long list of rules. After we got dressed in our costumes, which consisted of a construction worker, pirate, and dinosaur, we headed out into the craziness of OU. I really can’t explain how crazy it was except to tell you that there were people everywhere and there was live music with huge mosh pits surrounding the stages. There were also carnival-like food stands everywhere that sold things like corn dogs, French fries, and other fried foods. It was pretty awesome and I could easily see why they are known for their Halloween. Some of the most interesting costumes I saw this weekend were: the tumblr symbol, a one man wolf pack, deadmau5, Pauly-D, Flo (the Progressive girl) and Juno. There were also a ton of Waldos, Sundrop girls, and toy story characters. I had an absolutely amazing weekend!! It was great to see my brother and my friends. I only got about five hours of sleep the whole weekend but it was still totally worth it and I can’t wait for Halloween to come again next year. Happy Halloween everyone!
