My Break Thus Far

01.16.2012Sorry I haven’t been blogging much this break. For some reason this break is a little strange this time around and it feels like it is flying by! Anyways, I’ll tell you a few things that I’ve been up to... First of all, I’ve been spending as much time as possible with my friends that live here, since I don’t get to see them very much. It’s always nice to catch up with each other and share our funny college experiences so far. As for my Christmas, it was different this year for sure, not necessarily in a bad way...just different. Usually on Christmas Eve we have my dad’s side of the family over. However, we unfortunately lost both my aunt and uncle last year and my cousins live in Colorado and Columbus. Needless to say, we did not have our usual Christmas Eve dinner. Instead, my cousin that lives in Columbus came over in the morning and we talked for a while and were updated on his life. Next, I had to bake some Christmas cookies (normally I make them way earlier than Christmas Eve, so I was pretty behind!) Then, we went over to family friend’s house for dinner and to spend the evening with them. This was the first time that we had not had people over our house on Christmas Eve for 23 years. Crazy right? Then, on Christmas, we always do gifts in the morning (whenever we roll out of bed) and then my mom’s side of the family comes over around 2 o clock. We always get a Honey Baked ham, which is one of my favorites, and have a laid back meal of grazing and making sandwiches. My little cousins are now almost two years old, so that was really entertaining on Christmas also. It was a nice time spent with family. And then, in the blink of an eye, Christmas was over. That always surprises me, because you spend so much time decorating, baking cookies, and getting everything ready and then, just like that, it’s over. And then you have to start putting everything back into their boxes to go in the attic, which isn’t nearly as much fun as unpacking all of the decorations. So, now, I’m basically on to the relaxing part of break. I’m going to hang out with friends, finish watching Dexter: Season 5, and make any appointments that I need to before returning back to school. Also, some of my friends from school are supposed to come up, so it will be really nice seeing them too! Man, I love break (especially not having any homework!!)
