We're Going on a Bear Hunt!

09.29.2011Every Friday at 3 o’ clock, I head down to the Bombeck Center to spend some quality time with preschoolers until 6 o’ clock. Being that I work with 3 to 5 year olds, I always have at least one interesting story to share after my observations. We always read a story before we go out to play on the playground. Today, we happened to read “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.” It was really cute to see all of the children getting into the story and ‘swishing’ through the grass, ‘swimming’ through the river, and so on. After the story was finished the teacher told the students to line up to go outside. However, one little boy would not get in line. When asked why he didn’t want to line up, he said, “I don’t wanna go on a bear hunt.” It was one of the most adorable things I’ve heard! Of course, my teacher reassured him that we were not going on a bear hunt and were only going outside to play. She also told him that, luckily, no bears can be found at the Bombeck Center. That’s one thing I like about watching preschoolers—their imagination and their ideas!
