Dayton to Daytona- A trip you must experience

05.27.2010If you go to the University of Dayton, you know exactly what the Dayton 2 Daytona trip is. For me I had heard nothing but great things about it. The trip is put on by the SGA (Student Government Association) and its a six day vacation for Dayton students after the spring semester ends. Everybody had been telling me I needed to go, and so this year I went for my first time. All I can say after the trip is I cannot wait until next year.

The trip started when my friend Kelly came to pick me up and we drove down to Daytona. From my house in Atlanta, its about a six hour drive, but because of the heavy rain on the way down, its took about seven hours. But when we arrived in Daytona, it was nothing but sunshine. I got to my motel, soaking it all in. I was about to have a vacation with 2800 UD students. To sum up the week, it was unbelievable.

There were a couple ooncerts that were played during the week. The first big name was Boys Like Girls. The night before they played, I had the oppurtunity to meet a few of them at a local hangout down in Daytona. Needless to say, 2800 college students on the main pool deck at the main hotel, singing to the songs, and going crazy in the pool....it was like spring break MTV style, only we put ourselves on the next level.

Throughout the week, I hung out with as many people as I could, talking about the memories of junior year as well as meeting new people. This is a time to wind back, relax, and enjoy the beach as another year at the great University of Dayton has come to a close.

The last concert that was played had bands such as 2am Club and Mike Posner. If you haven't heard of Mike Posner or listened to his music, I highly suggest you look him up. Its great music and he comes to play at Ud from time to time during the school year.

By trips end, we were all sun burnt and tired. The drive back ws almost depressing. The memories that were made however will last forever. I can talk about how much fun Daytona was, but until you go to experience it yourself, you won't be able to fully understand the amount of fun you will have.

As always, be safe and make good choices!
