Dinner was...

09.02.2011…Interesting. To say the least. There are six of us so we rotate who cooks dinner each night. Usually it ends up that 2 people cook because the one who was supposed to needs help. Last night, we didn’t really have anyone scheduled to make dinner, but we were going to make chicken, potatoes, and zucchini. Pretty simple, right? Of course. My roommate and I decided we’d cook since we had time and the others had meetings and things going on that evening. We decided that we’d put some garlic and lemon juice on the chicken. I pounded it and put it in a pan, and my roommate took charge of putting everything on it. She added the garlic, and the lemon juice- it smelled really good. Then she decided to add some cumin to give it an additional flavor. I didn’t know she was doing this so when I came over and saw a brownish spice on it, I asked what it was. She replied that it was cumin, and that it would taste really good. About 30 seconds later when putting the spices away, she realized that she wasn’t using cumin- she used cinnamon. So the chicken had garlic, lemon juice, and a whole lot of cinnamon on it. After laughing hysterically on the ground for about 5 minutes, we took the chicken out of the pan (thankfully it wasn’t cooked) and rinsed everything off. Then we had to start over. We jointly decided not to tell the others what had happened until after they had eaten. Fortunately they all liked the chicken, so when we told them, they were hysterical too. The cinnamon is now in the very back of the cupboard.
