Strawberry Festival

I don't think I blogged about this yet! But the other weekend my friends and I went to the Strawberry Festival in Troy, Ohio. I didn't know what it was going to be, but I knew it had to be a big deal when the Dayton newscasters were talking about it the whole week before it happened.

It was worthy of all the attention, too.

First of all, it was free. Secondly, there was strawberry EVERYTHING. My two personal favorites were the strawberry salsa and tortilla chips, and the deep fried strawberries. Don't know what that is? I didn't either, but my mouth found out really quickly -- a strawberry, dipped in batter, and deep fried quickly, served with a side of whipped cream. Oh my goodness, it was fantastic.

It was a beautiful day, too. The streets of downtown Troy were closed down and vendors of all kinds set up little tents and were selling everything from dresses to bird feeders to strawberry donuts. The fountain in the middle of the town was died pink in honor of the strawberry theme- it actually looked pretty awesome. All in all, it was a really good day, and was something different and fun to do. Even though this happened a few weeks ago, I still think it is blog-worthy. Plus, it's an annual thing, so if I'm in the area next summer, I'll definitely have to make an appearance.
