UGMM:08.06.2011Undergraduate music minister. I am one, in fact. Ill be playing piano at one mass every weekend, and its cool because another girl and I get to pick the music for it and practice with the choir on our own. So essentially we run the show.
I had auditioned for this position late 2nd semester of my freshman year, and was very excited to hear that I got it a few weeks later. I had already helped out with one of the masses playing drums, and I even played guitar once. (Im fairly versatile, musically.) I can play piano, guitar, drums, and ukulele. One thing Im not so great at is singing. So when I was told that Id have to be on campus early to help out with the New Student Orientation mass, I figured I would be playing piano. Instead, I am singing.
But I think I should be okay, since Ill be in a huge choir. I move in on the 19th 13 days from today. I just got emailed the UGMM calendar, and I learned that on the 20th there would be an all day orientation-type-thing and rehearsal for NSO mass. Im looking forward to it, especially since Ive already worked with some of the older UGMMS who I havent seen since school. And of course, Im looking forward to meeting all those who I dont know. Im sure well get to know each other well over the busy liturgical year!
Oh, and hopefully I dont sing TOO out of key.
PS- If any freshmen are reading this and can sing, join the 12:00 Sunday mass choir! That's the one I'm in charge of! :)
