International Correspondence Achieved

Remember how I said I found out who my host family is for France? Well, we have officially met through e-mail! I sent Dominique (isn’t that a cool name?!) an e-mail the other day introducing myself and letting her know who I am and asking her some questions about herself. And I woke up this morning with a response…written all in French, bien sûr (of course). I found out she is a mother of 3 grown children and has a few grandchildren. She has been hosting exchange students from the US and Japan for a long time and loves doing it.

Getting the e-mail made me that much more excited to actually go and meet her in person. Hopefully we will be able to keep in touch regularly until I leave and will have formed a good bond by the time I get there. IÂ’m not sure if she speaks English yet, but even if she does IÂ’m going to ask her to use English only if IÂ’m struggling to understand the French. I want to learn as much as I can from her! IÂ’m also going to ask her what some of her favorite places in Angers (the city where weÂ’ll be) are so I can experience the city like a native. Dominique seems like a wonderful woman and I am so excited to get to know her better and to take this amazing trip!
