Internship Search

12.29.2010

I know it probably seems like I haven’t been the epitome of productive over the past week and a half of break, and that’s probably close to true. I have, however, been doing more than watching movies. Although, come to think of it, I’ve watched more in the past few days than I had over the past year, I think. Anyway, the point is, I haven’t been taking it easy the entire time I’ve been home.

I have, in fact, been intensely searching/applying for internships. Well, most of the submission dates aren’t here yet, so I’ve just been prepping my resume and writing tons and tons and TONS of cover letters. Researching companies may take a lot of time and effort, but it could be the difference in getting a job or not. So, I’m doing it. I’d really love to work for Buzzmedia, which is active in the music community. I already blog on their website (www.buzznet.com) occasionally. Generally I add pictures and write about live shows I’ve just attended or about albums I’ve just bought or want to buy. I actually volunteered at the Buzznet Photobooth at the Bamboozle Road Show this summer in Cincinnati, and I got to meet Breesays, one of the main content-contributors at Buzznet. She’s a pretty rad chick, so you should check out her blog on Buzznet.com if you get a chance.

Anyway, I’m also looking at some other production-type internships at television stations and concert venues. I’m hoping someone will be willing to let me intern this summer for the first two months that I’ll be in the states…because remember, I’m going to France in July! So, I think this may present a problem in securing a two-month gig, because a lot of them are at least 10 weeks long. But we’ll see. I definitely am glad I’m getting started now, though, because it’s a lot of work. If you’re considering an internship for the summer, look now. You’ll be glad you did come February when deadlines are looming and your homework seems to have doubled.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. And if any of you have contacts in the production field, send me an e-mail! My e-mail address is in my info section!
