Stepping Up in Wedding Shoes
12.28.2011Today I spent the whole day with my best friend Renee. It’s really great to spend so much time with my friends from home when I’m here since I don’t get to see them very much during the school year. What’s especially exciting is talking wedding plans with Renee since she’s getting married in July and I’m a bridesmaid! It’s weird to think that I’m old enough to have friends who are engaged. I mean, I’ve known her since 7th grade, so we’ve definitely grown up together.
Anyway, we’ve been talking wedding stuff for a while, but today we actually ventured out and bought my shoes for the big day! We ordered dresses a few months ago during fall break and I can’t wait for it to come in so I can get it fitted. And I think next week we’re going to go see the reception hall and walk through the church. I think doing those things will definitely make it all the more real. In less than seven months she and Noah will be married. Whoa. I can’t get over it. I’m so happy for them though…they’re perfect for each other.
I don’t want to get all sappy; I’ll save that for the speech. But I just want to say how grateful I am to be involved and that this is an exciting time. It’s funny, because people always told me that during my senior year in college I’d see an explosion of engagements. I kind of laughed it off at the time, but it turns out to be exactly what’s happening. Crazy, but true, and I couldn’t be happier!
