Waiting for Jack's

08.29.2011Currently I am sitting in the middle of Humanities Plaza enjoying the gorgeous weather. It is 10:05 am and I’ve already had breakfast, class, and a snack. This whole getting up at 6:30 in the morning thing is kind of rough. And the next two days are going to be kind of intense because I’m driving home tonight and back to Dayton tomorrow morning. Why, you ask? I’m sure you’re thinking that sounds a little silly. Well, I’m going to a concert in Indy tonight—Jack’s Mannequin and Guster! If you’ve been following my blog at all in the past few months, you’ll remember that I helped to organize last year’s big concert on campus, which happened to be Jack’s Mannequin. Likewise, I started getting involved with the group that planned the event my freshman year when it brought Guster, so tonight is kind of a cool, unplanned tribute to all the hard work I did over the past 2.5 years with the group. Unfortunately, I have class until 2:50 today, meaning that I’ll hit rush hour traffic at some point along the way. Coupled with the fact that every interstate seems to be under construction, this means it will probably take me at least 2 hours and 45 minutes, possibly even 3 hours, to get to Indy. Therefore, I have no time to go home before the show and instead will be meeting Megan downtown at her work so we can attempt to get a semi-decent spot by the stage. I keep telling myself that the drive home will be worth it, and I know it will, but I’m SO dreading the drive back tomorrow morning. I’ll probably end up leaving my house at 6:30 am to get back in time for my 10:30 am class. Gross. Not to mention that I have another class after that from 1:30-2:45 pm, night class from 5:55-8:35 pm, and directly after that I’ve got my audition for the fall play. Oh. Man. I’m going to need a hefty nap tomorrow afternoon, that’s for sure. But, I’m trying to ignore that fact and just survive today. You can bet that my iPod will be playing Jack’s and Guster all day today in preparation, and let me tell you, that is what is going to get me through. Hope your Monday is splendid! Look forward to a re-cap of tonight’s concert in the near future!
