When It Rains, It Pours

For those of us who live in the Midwest, especially Ohio, frequent changes in weather are the norm. We arenÂ’t surprised when itÂ’s sunny with a high of 75 on Monday and by Wednesday itÂ’s snowing. DonÂ’t get me wrong, we still cringe and curse Mother Nature for her cruel, cruel tricks, but weÂ’re not really caught off guard if we have to change outfits multiple times a day in order to dress appropriately for the weather.

But, that being said, for some reason I was still annoyed at the torrential downpour that woke me up this morning. I was getting ready for work and just as I was about to leave, the wind picked up and basically blew the rain sideways. Obviously, there was no way I was going to walk in that, so I waited a few minutes. And, in true Ohio fashion, within ten minutes the rain was coming down at a manageable level and I headed off to work. Let me just say IÂ’m super grateful for my umbrella and my rain boots. Although, IÂ’ve recently discovered that my boots both have holes in themÂ…uh oh. If I donÂ’t step in giant puddles then most of the rain stays out, but still, itÂ’s a bit of a risk. Better than the alternative though, considering that I basically had to jump Lake Michigan to get to my parking lot from my house.

I guess my main point is that the weather here is crazy. And, if you choose to come to school here, bring an umbrella and rain bootsÂ…preferably ones without holes.
