It has been an extremely long day. For chemistry, we were assigned 47 problems from the book to complete for class on today (Monday). I did all of my other homework on Friday and Saturday so I could devote my Sunday to chemistry. If I had only known what I was getting myself into… My friend and I started to work on our problems around 2:30 pm. By six o’clock, we had only completed half of the problems. And this was with minimal procrastination. We decided to take a break for dinner and started back up around 7:30. We finished the last problem at 10:03. This was one of the most frustrating days of the year. We also had a chemistry quiz today, meaning I still needed to study. Thankfully, the majority of the quiz was based upon problems from the homework. Also, my mom was out of town, so I had to proof-read my brother’s English paper.
I was becoming upset. Sometimes it is necessary to just take a breath and de-stress. I listened to a few of my favorite songs, proof-read the paper, and was in bed by 12:30. Sometimes I need to remind myself that this is college. College is meant to challenge you, it makes you work to attain your goals. It is a major step in life. It helps for me to think about the future. If I can complete this homework, study for this quiz, make it through this class, then it is one more step until medical school, one step closer to the real world. It also made me realize how important it is to have balance in your life. Yes, college is about learning, but it is also about having fun, meeting new people and experiencing new things. These can’t be done if you are working 24/7. In the end, balance is necessary.
