Rules
Horizontal Rules
In the athletics brand, horizontal rules are used in two specific ways: 1) The rules may separate several pieces of text on the same page in order to emphasize readability. 2) The rules may be used as a decorative element, typically when they are used at either the top or bottom of a page, or within a text box. Horizontal rules may appear in black, gray and white or in any of the approved overarching University or athletics brand colors. Finally, the width of the horizontal rule used should roughly match the type size on the page. Please review the recommended weights below.

Diagonal Rules
Diagonal rules are based directly on the sharp bottom angle of the University banner (see banner graphic element section for reference) and should always be set at 60 degrees. When placing type on the top of a diagonal rule pattern, the diagonal rule's line weight must be .25 pt to ensure readability. Diagonal rules can either be one of the approved brand colors, or white sitting on top of an approved brand color. For readability's sake, a tint may be used. Use the link at the end of this section to download a file containing the diagonal rule pattern.
