Davis Center for Portfolio Management

Davis Center Mission

The Davis Center for Portfolio Management strives to act as a financial learning village open to all University of Dayton students.  The Davis Center, the real world tools it encompasses, and the Davis Center team members continuously work as dedicated resources to both the University of Dayton and Greater-Dayton communities championing excellence in financial management education and community service as espoused in the ethics and values of the Marianist tradition.

About the Davis Center

The Davis Center as a physical structure is an investment technology classroom at the University of Dayton providing industry-leading financial analysis software including Bloomberg, Baseline, StockVal ValueLine, Research Insight and Morningstar Direct.  The Davis Center is both an introduction to real world portfolio management tools and a leadership development program to over 40 undergraduate students from all parts of the University.  It consists of a student-run management structure that divides its volunteer staff into teams that hold financial software training sessions for students, introduce local high schools to industry research, and participate in community service events. The Staff is a resource to the University and the student body, providing financial education and opportunities to explore many areas of finance. Flyer Investments, a capstone student-managed portfolio seminar, manages nearly $16 million of the University's endowment in equity and fixed income markets.  Students are empowered through the software and text resources of The Davis Center to gain hands-on experience as portfolio managers, reporting semi-annually to the University's Investment Committee.  By managing this fund, students invest across sectors and industries in a well-diversified portfolio, utilizing in-depth analysis of equity and securities.  According to the alumni network, which now spans over 150 professionals, this program lays the foundation for careers in the industry.
