Study Abroad Opportunities

If you want to expand your interests in international business, we hope you will consider study abroad through the School of Business.  Along the way, we think you will gain a better understanding of other countries/cultures as well as your own!

One way to study abroad is through one of our exciting Summer Study Abroad programs.  This year, we have several 5-week study opportunities in Europe.  Regardless of the country you choose, you will travel with a class of other UD students and UD business faculty who will teach courses that are preapproved to meet requirements for our business majors and minors.   Non-business majors can take courses that advance their degree work as well. Options include sites in countries such as Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. (England & Ireland).  We arrange for travel within each country and all program-related accommodations. You do the studying, complete exams and papers as you would on campus and use your free time to explore exciting cities such as London, Madrid, Munich, Paris or Istanbul.   On long weekends, students can travel in groups to other countries/venues for a wider experience.  Then, you’re back in the classroom to complete your coursework.  Please click on the SBA Summer Programs link to the right here for lots more detail.

A second way to participate in education abroad is through one of our many semester exchange programs.   UD has an extensive circle of partnerships with universities around the world, including several in Europe, South America and even some in Asia.    If you are interested in this option, check out our exchange program website.   There, you will get a sense of the breadth of SBA partnerships and those of the University as a whole that are run by our Center for International Programs.   Plus, you will see contact information for our International Business Director, Dr. Terence Lau, who can answer your questions about this more expansive study abroad option.

Third, students can also gain international experience by participating in programs run by other universities. There are many fine programs out there, but we do encourage UD students to meet with their academic advisors well before making a decision.   You will want to be sure that the program you are interested in is accredited and respected and that courses you take will transfer to UD.

Take a look at these pages and we're sure that you'll catch the international business and travel bug. You may wish to travel during the summer for a more intense look at European or Latin business practices, or perhaps you want to immerse yourself into an Asian country and culture for a whole term (our exchange programs). Whatever your international educational interests and goals might be, we can help you reach them.
