If you scanned the “Before You Leave” pages, you know that there is a lot to do to prepare for this extended stay overseas. But, after all this work comes the good part – studying and learning abroad.
We expect that you will have a great time and a truly educational experience. The pre-departure orientation class you take in the Spring before leaving will cover many topics of value to you while you’re abroad, including a) Insight into historical and other country influences, b) Economic and business conditions in your country of study and the EU in general, and c) Safety/security concerns. This later point (safety/security) is among the most important. We encourage you to look at these pages on our website. We expect students to act in professional ways that represent both the university and the U.S. in a great light. Several times we discuss the fact that students are obliged to abide by UD policies and the student handbook and we review the behavioral and academic expectations while you are overseas.
