The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Dayton (UDLLI) is proud to share with you our 2012 Summer Program, UDLLI for a Day. Continuing the tradition of offering quality educational opportunities that are informative and diversified, this UDLLI summer program features two one-day sessions with separate themes:
Monday, May 21: Welcome to our Neighborhood: The Changing Faces in the Miami Valley
The goal of this program is to help the Dayton community become more immigrant-friendly through the message of our community speakers. Immigrants to Dayton will share their life experiences. More >>
Wednesday, June 6: Election 2012: Hot Button Issues
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted will discuss the topic of elections in the state of Ohio and the role of his office; the political consequences of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Supreme Court’s review of it, and the 2012 presidential election will be explored; we'll take a closer looks at the rhetoric used in the presidential campaign, the use of different media and the consequences for governing; experts will address what is happening in Ohio and outside Ohio in energy efficiency, solar, wind, biomass and alternate vehicles and other sustainability issues with a special emphasis on the current shale play and the opportunities for Ohio; we ill explore the government impact on economic growth from a nonpartisan view; and discuss the economic development in the Dayton Region, including Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, commercial developments, state programs and moving our region forward.
