Profile

CPT Joseph McGough hails from Prattville AL and his military career spans 22 plus years beginning with Operation Desert Storm.

As enlisted he has held every position from Military Police team member, M60 machine gunner, Team Leader, Squad Leader, K-9 handler, Recruiter, Platoon SGT and Operations SGT.

As an officer he has held positions as BN S-4 (Arctic MP BN), Company XO (Bravo Company 796 MP BN), Company Commander (Golf Company 787 MP BN), Asst. S-3 (787 MP BN), S-3 Plans Officer/S-2 Force Protection Anti-Terrorism (595th Trans BDE SDDC), S-1/HHD Rear Det Commander (92nd MP BN) and Commander 252nd and 180th Military Police Detachments. He is currently assigned as the Asst. Professor of Military Science at the University of Dayton for the Sophomores (MSII).

He has deployed to Operation Desert Storm, Honduras, Suriname, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Kuwait and other countries in the CENTCOM AOR.

CPT McGough holds a BSOE degree specialized in Law Enforcement from Wayland Baptist University and is about to complete a Graduate Degree in Organizational and Business Security Management from Webster University.

CPT McGough’s awards include Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2), South West Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5), NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (SAUDI ARABIA), Air Assault, Gold Recruiter Badge with one sapphire.

He is married to the former Amy Vivian of Cincinnati Ohio and they have four children: SGT Danzig McGough (Fort Campbell KY), married to the former Ericka Schneider with one daughter Avalyn; CPL Ryan McSweeney (USMC Camp Lejeune); Brandi McSweeney (a junior at University of Wisconsin Stout); and Zachary McGough.
