Profile

Tony Casillano is in charge of recruiting students to come to the School of Law. He sets up open houses for prospective and admitted students; attends events, seminars, and conferences; and supervises the student ambassador program, in which current students help out at events and give tours to prospective students. Mr. Casillano loves the variety of his job, especially meeting new students each year. “It reenergizes me,” he says.

In the Air Force for 17 years, Mr. Casillano retired as a major in 1994. He became the recruitment coordinator for the adult education program at Wilberforce University, though the switch to a job in education wasn’t drastic. He grew up wanting to be a high school social studies teacher. “I didn’t become a teacher,” he says, “but I still got to work in education.” Now at the University of Dayton, Mr. Casillano continues his involvement with his previous employer by serving as an adjunct professor.

Outside of the office, he likes to jog, swim, read, and spend time with his family. Mr. Casillano and his wife Coleen have two children, Anthony and Malia.
