Profile

Staci Patterson Rucker joined the University of Dayton School of Law as the director of academic support in 2007.  In this role, she designed and implemented a comprehensive academic support program to support law students from orientation to graduation, including the development of the first for-credit academic support course at the School of Law.  Currently she serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, where she drives strategy for the development and implementation of curricular and co-curricular programming and policies designed to achieve institutional goals of increased student engagement and first-time bar passage.  Specifically, Dean Rucker created the School of Law’s Academic Advising Program, the Dean’s Fellows Program and the first-year Learning Communities and its PRACTICE mission:  to develop Practice Ready Attorneys Committed To Inclusive Community & Excellence.  In 2013, the University recognized Dean Rucker as a “top performing leader” and selected her to participate in the “Emerging Leadership Program” at the University of Dayton Center for Leadership. 

Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Dayton School of Law, Dean Rucker was an associate attorney in the litigation practice group at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo and later at Reed Smith LLP in Washington, DC.  She earned her B.A. summa cum laude from Howard University and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.  Dean Rucker has taught Elements of Legal Analysis and Remedies.
