Farewell to Dr. Gene Moulin.
The faculty, staff, students and community that makes up the Department of Counselor Education & Human Services would like to join together to say farewell to Dr. Eugene "Gene" Moulin. He was a friend, a mentor, and so much more. Dr. Moulin served 45 years at the University of Dayton. He passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, at the age of 80.
A visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Immaculate Conception Chapel.
Dr. Moulin started his UD career in 1968, and was an active tenured professor until his passing. He chaired the University’s Department of Counselor Education & Human Services from 1972 to 1997. In 1982, he was named UD’s Professor of the Year. Dr Moulin also served as academic advisor to the men’s basketball team from 1978 to 1988.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Mount Union College in 1956, Moulin began his teaching career in 1957 as an eighth-grade instructor and coach at Louisville (Ohio) Local Schools. He later earned masters degrees from Kent State University in 1959 and 1960, and a doctorate from the University of Toledo in 1968. Moulin was also a commissioned officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1951 to 1971.
