Department of Teacher Education

"Teachers who graduate from the University of Dayton are better prepared and more of their students exceed expectations compared to the average graduate of other Ohio education programs," according to the Education Preparation Performance Report, 2012, by the Ohio Board of Regents. (Grading Teachers, Jan. 4, 2013, UD News)

At the University of Dayton, learning to be a teacher is about building learning communities through critical reflection. Because fields in the School of Education & Allied Professions require you to interact with others — and perhaps profoundly affect their lives — it's important for you to gain both knowledge and skills. Thus, whatever major you choose in the Department of Teacher Education, valuable real-world experiences are part of the curriculum.
