Institute for Technology-Enhanced Learning

The Institute for Technology-Enhanced Learning, better known as ITEL, enhances learning and teaching at the University of Dayton and in the region’s public and parochial schools through the development, study and dissemination of best practices in classroom technology. The Office of Academic Programming and the Office of Information Technology work together to provide a variety of critical services for students, faculty and staff as well as for our community partners.

What We Do
  • Design, develop and maintain the technology-enhanced learning infrastructure for the School of Education and Allied Professions.
  • Coordinate the Technology-Enhanced Learning Endorsement program for PK-12 classroom teachers.
  • Plan and facilitate professional development programs for K-16 teachers focused on best practices in technology integration and grounded in the latest research on learning methodology.
  • Secure and manage internal and external grants to support faculty development around technology-enhanced learning.
Accomplishments
  • Won more than $2 million in external grant funding during the past five years.
  • Supported faculty in designing and delivering more than 30 new online courses in the past two years.
  • Selected by the Salvation Army to develop the educational programming for its new multimillion-dollar Kroc Center in Dayton.
  • Provided professional development in technology-enhanced and problem-based learning for more than 300 classroom teachers during the past four years.
